Nevada State Society, NSDAR – Member Security Notice
Dear Daughters:
It’s time for a password refresh! With suspicious emails and phishing attempts becoming increasingly common, we encourage all NSSDAR members to take a few minutes to review their email security and change their passwords.
🚨 BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR SUSPICIOUS EMAILS!
The example pictured below is a recent suspicious email appearing to come from our State Regent, Bethney Seifert.
Notice how the message:
- Appears to come from someone you know and trust.
- Requests assistance with a matter that must be handled “discreetly.”
- Discourages phone calls and asks you to communicate only by email.
- Uses a familiar DAR signature to appear legitimate.
These are common warning signs of phishing and impersonation scams. Even if an email contains a familiar name, title, or signature, it does not mean the message is authentic.
🔐 What Should You Do?
- Change your email password using a strong, unique password that you do not use for other accounts.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for an additional layer of security.
- Check the sender’s actual email address, not just the name displayed.
- Do not click suspicious links, open unexpected attachments, or provide personal information.
- Verify unusual requests independently by contacting the person through a phone number or email address you already know is legitimate.
- Report suspicious emails as phishing using your email provider’s reporting feature.
Remember!
Just because an email says it is from a DAR officer, chapter member, or someone you recognize does NOT mean it is legitimate.
If you receive a questionable email, do not respond. When in doubt, verify before taking action.
Our members’ privacy and online security are important. Thank you for helping protect yourself, your fellow Daughters, and the Nevada State Society.
Stay Alert. Stay Secure. Protect Our DAR Community!
