🌸 What is the Cherry Blossom Challenge?
The Cherry Blossom Challenge is a state initiative that chapters can participate in to receive chapter recognition at the State Conference in April 2027. To qualify as a Cherry Blossom Chapter, a chapter must complete five of the initiatives listed below between October 1 and March 31, 2027.
Challenges
☐ CELEBRATE OUR MEMBERS
Celebrate who our members are, their accomplishments, and their contributions to our chapter.
Ideas: celebration party, member recognition, fun games.
☐ WELCOME A NEW MEMBER
Add at least one new member to the chapter.
Chapters under 35 members may add at least one associate member.
☐ BRING A FRIEND
Bring friends to a chapter meeting.
Goal: At least 5 friends attend.
☐ TRY SOMETHING NEW
Complete a project or activity relating to a DAR committee that our chapter has not previously reported on the Master Report/CMR.
☐ PARTNER WITH ANOTHER CHAPTER
Participate in a joint activity or service project with another DAR chapter.
This initiative counts for all chapters involved.
☐ REACH OUT TO MEMBERS WHO CAN’T ATTEND
Plan a project or activity for members who are unable to attend meetings.
Ideas: letters to veterans, encouragement cards to teachers, cards to fellow members.
☐ HONOR OUR HODARs
Invite our HODARs to a chapter meeting or plan a special event in their honor.
☐ PINK-OUT CHAPTER MEETING
Have a fun chapter meeting where everyone dresses in PINK!
Don’t forget the group photo!
☐ MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Feature one member each month in our newsletter for 4 newsletters.
☐ PATRIOTIC TRIVIA NIGHT
Test our knowledge of the Constitution, American history, presidents, Revolutionary War, flags, patriotic songs, or Nevada history.
☐ INTRODUCE YOUR PATRIOT
Have members give a short presentation about their Revolutionary War Patriot and share their family’s connection to DAR.
☐ REVOLUTIONARY RECIPE EXCHANGE
Share a favorite family recipe passed down through generations. Consider creating a chapter recipe collection or hosting a “Taste of Our Chapter.”
☐ THANK YOU, VETERAN CARD PARTY
Gather together for snacks, fellowship, and card-making while creating thank-you cards for veterans.
☐ GETTING TO KNOW OUR DAR SISTERS
Pair members who don’t know each other well. Have coffee, lunch, or simply spend time getting acquainted, then introduce your new friend at a chapter meeting.
