Social Media Guidelines

As a reminder, our state Facebook page is intended to promote the positive work of the Daughters of the American Revolution and to share information about our mission.

When submitting content for Facebook, please ensure your post:

Please remember that our Facebook page is not intended for:

  • Communicating or discussing chapter, state, or national DAR business.
  • Sharing DAR graphics, memes, or other content intended only for members.
  • Posting personal opinions or commentary regarding DAR policies, decisions, or leadership.

In addition, no derogatory or discriminatory remarks concerning DAR, allied organizations, or any individual will be permitted. The National Society maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding such content.

As stated in the National Bylaws of the NSDAR, Article XIX (Discipline), Section 4, and the Appendix regarding Social Media Safety and Security/Circularization:

“Any Chapter guilty of violation of the Rules of the National Society, or of action discrediting the organization, may be reprimanded, suspended or disbanded and the rights to use its name and that of the Society revoked by the National Board of Management.”

Our goal is to ensure that our Facebook presence reflects the professionalism, integrity, and mission of the DAR while providing an engaging and welcoming resource for our communities.

Thank you for helping us maintain these standards and for representing DAR with excellence.

Effective immediately, all Facebook posts will require administrator approval before they are published. This review process helps ensure that the information shared is accurate, timely, and consistent with the standards established by the NSDAR VIS Committee.  Pending posts will be reviewed daily.

Please keep the following guidelines in mind when submitting content:

  • Posts should relate to DAR business, with an emphasis on Nevada State Society DAR activities and chapter events, programs, accomplishments, and announcements.
  • Content should support the DAR mission of Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism.
  • Posts should be respectful, factual, and appropriate for our members and the public.
  • Information should be verified for accuracy before submission, including dates, times, locations, names, and links.
  • Content should follow the current NSDAR VIS social media standards and guidelines.

The approval process is not intended to discourage participation, but rather to maintain a consistent, professional presence for Nevada State Society DAR and to ensure compliance with NSDAR VIS expectations.

Thank you for your continued support and for helping us share the outstanding work being done throughout our state. We appreciate your dedication to keeping our members and the public informed while maintaining the high standards expected of our organization.
