TO: Nevada State Society DAR Members
FROM: Sue Butler, Nevada State Chair – Units Overseas Committee
If your family is like mine, they know about membership in Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Membership in the DAR has been an easy way to serve my community, make friends, and meet like-minded people. Living in Nevada and having conversations with friends or acquaintances about my membership in DAR, I have learned that many do not realize DAR is throughout the United States. Of course, I respond, the DAR is around the world.
International members of 17 chapters in 11 countries and one U.S. territory are currently engaged in the work of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR).
Daughters living outside the borders of the United States have advanced the NSDAR mission of historic preservation, education, and patriotism since 1897, when the first overseas chapter was organized in Hawaii.
Our newest chapter, the Hercules Mulligan Chapter in Dublin, Ireland, is celebrating its inaugural year. Inaugural Year Associate Membership Dues are only $20. Daughters can join now to take advantage of this special discount, available until November 30, 2026.
Spreading the word about our beloved society educates communities about our love for God, Home, and Country. Overseas chapters keep the history of our Patriotic ancestors alive worldwide.
We enjoy having associate members join our chapters here at home. Your membership as an overseas associate member will strengthen our Society’s connection with Daughters around the world and provide a powerful source of support to these chapters.
Through associate membership, this committee chair has made wonderful friends from other countries, been invited to join their table at the Units Overseas Luncheon during Continental Congress, and visited their chapter meetings while traveling abroad.
This Nevada State Chair encourages all Nevada Daughters to join an overseas chapter. During the Nevada State Regent Seifert’s administration, the Nevada Daughters will have an opportunity to support overseas chapters by wearing a support button. This button will be distributed to Daughters who show their Units Overseas insignia pin at DAR events or members who join a new overseas chapter.
Organization and financial stability are crucial in keeping our society healthy. Let us keep the momentum going by supporting the Units Overseas Committee.
Further information about the Units Overseas Committee is available on the NSDAR members-only website or by contacting the Nevada State Chair, Sue Butler.
